The Tufte-folk on Sandflæsa

Peter Christen Asbjørnsen was never in the north of Norway; this legend was related by P. Schmidt, who was also the source of “The Cormorants from Utrøst,” as well as by Ivar Aasen. There are four sea tales in Hulder Tales and Folk Legends. This is the third I have translated (along with “From the Alexandrian Height” and the aforementioned “The Cormorants from Utrøst”), with the last, “Mackerel-trolling” forthcoming.
